oh, hello there | milwaukee, wi photographer

There is no way it’s possible that I haven’t blogged in, oh, almost two months. Nope. No way. I don’t believe. Lalalalalalalala. See? If we all just pretend it didn’t happen, then it didn’t happen, right? Well, that’s how things seem to work in the world of a 5-year-old, so I thought I’d give it a shot too.:)

I’m sorry. (“Did you hear that? He said he’s sorry!” We may have watched The Grinch about 850 times in the last month…) Life’s crazy. Good crazy (for the most part – minus the pink eye I’ve had for 9 days thanks to Gavin on Christmas Eve and a million other little annoyances like that). Photography has been super busy and steady, which is amazing and makes me SO happy. And life at home has been interesting with the holidays, a full-on living room renovation (that we’re doing 100% ourselves and includes ripping down walls, jackhammering a heinous rock-wall fireplace and installing built in cabinets and bookshelves – OYVEY!) and the two kids (one of which we just finished up something called “neuropsych testing” with, and the other… well, the other is 20 months old. Enough said.).

But I just wanna say that while I’ve totally stunk up the place in the ‘ol blogging department, I’ve managed to stay pretty up to date with session info and sneak peeks on my Facebook page. So feel free to “like” my page. BUT, I’m gonna start blogging my sessions HERE and posting the link on my Facebook page going forward (duh… like I should’ve been doing all along). Praise the Lord for New Years resolutions!;)

Anyway, since blog posts without pictures are totally lame, I thought I’d include some of the photos I took from my family’s Christmas card session back in October. (Yes, the first weekend in October lol.)

Something I feel SUPER passionate about is that everyone should have images of themselves and their families that they adore. Life is SO nuts and crazy – it’s so easy to lose track of life and get caught up in the little things. To take even an hour to kick back, relax, and just be in the moment with your awesome family – to have a moment to actually SEE how awesome and fun they are – who doesn’t need that?! I almost cried when I got home and uploaded the photos.

Because I saw this face.

And this face.

I would be absolutely full of you-know-what if I said my children were angels for this session. In fact, the second we got there, Avery said she was freezing and wanted to get back in the car. And Gavin would NOT stop climbing the ladder I brought. Um… yeah. But we made it fun and we totally made it work.

Heck, even I got in on the action! Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve been in a photo with the kids – one that I like?!

Heart = gooey mess.

It was SO what I needed. What we needed. And I got some shots that I am so in love with. Because they remind me – in the midst of all the total chaos – that we’ve got a whole bunch of love in our tiny, crazy family.

With that, Happy New Year, friends! And see ya soon – pinky promise.:)
